Top Texas Tech receiver and Biletnikoff Award semifinalist Jonathan Giles announced Friday he is transferring.

“Texas Tech was a dream school for me growing up as a kid, so to wear the Double T was truly an honor and privilege,” he said on Twitter. “However, I have made the decision that it’s best to pursue my dreams and academics elsewhere.”

Giles, a junior, was fourth in the Big 12 in receiving yardage last year, with 1,158 yards on 69 catches. He rolled up 13 touchdowns, third-best in the league.

Coming out of Sugar Land Elkins, Giles was a consensus three-star recruit.

Tech lost quarterback Patrick Mahomes early to the NFL draft.

The Red Raiders will return their other top receivers: Cameron Batson, Keke Coutee and Dylan Cantrell.
